J.M. Bailiff Farm

What is a Century Farm?

The Tennessee Century Farms Program was created in 1975 by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture as part of our nation’s bicentennial celebration. The focus of the program is to recognize and document the families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years.

About me

Hi! I'm Kevin Bandy.

My family and I live in the small community of Dry Creek in DeKalb County, Tennessee. I manage an office of our local community bank while my wife, Brenda, works with the county school system. We have two sons, Zachary and Dawson. Zachary has begun a career in law enforcement while Dawson is studying at community college. My daughter-in-law, Brooke, is a registered nurse at a nearby hospital. Zachary and Brooke are the parents of our little grandson, Colsen.

The boys and I enjoy attending antique tractor & engine shows and hunting. Dawson also enjoys playing sports. Brenda's hobbies are scrapbooking, making scarves, and other crafts.

We attend a local Baptist church. The boys and I are members of the local camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I am a life member. And, I am also a life member of the National Rifle Association.

My interest in genealogy began in 1984 while listening to my grandfather, Charlie Bailiff, tell about his grandfather, James Monroe Bailiff, fighting in the Confederate cavalry and afterwards homesteading our farm in the Dry Creek community of DeKalb County.

I restored my grandfather's 1912 Rockford gasoline engine in the fall of 1999. I developed "old iron" fever and a strong desire to learn all that I could about these machines. Not long afterwards, I purchased a couple of Ford Model T's. Although both have been sold, I still am amazed at the ingenuity of Henry Ford.

I hope you enjoy my site.
